Guitars - The Crow
Mad axeman Mark "The Crow" Cronin hasn't written his biog yet so I'll make one up.
Mark was actually born with a monkey's paw instead of a hand which he has to shave on a daily basis so as not to frighten small children and even smaller old ladies. Some say that he strings his guitar with the whiskers of the Devil's own Hellhounds. Others believe him to be the last known descendant of Robert Johnson (that's Robert Johnson who had the butchers shop in Southwood high street, not the guitar player).
All we know is that he's a talkative Southern Bloke who plays a mean Les Paul. The Riffmeister General. Ol' Boogie Britches.
Halleluja!
Hold on... message via carrier pigeon... The Crow's biog has arrived!
CROW – Rock ‘N’ Roll Pirate
Crow was created by Satan’s own hand in September ’62 and was delivered brandishing a silver plectrum to the maternity home in Farnborough, Hants. The screams emitted from his mother were nothing to the cries of horror from the midwife upon inspection of this poor unfortunate creature. “Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No. It’s a crow!”
At the tender age of fifteen and three quarters Crow discovered that a guitar actually sounded far better than the instrument he had improvised from a tennis racquet and a few strings tied to the handle. He mastered the harmonious chords of ‘Skip to my Lou’ and the rest, as they say, is history.
He assembled a handful of local lads, gave them the title ‘Tyrant’ and, just as quickly, disbanded in order to form ‘Siva Khan’. His first attempt at a gig, played to a five hundred strong audience at Cove Community Hall, went down a storm and was followed by several more.
A few bands later and his family started to make an untimely appearance so the Rock ‘n’ Roll lifestyle was moved to the back burner to make way for formula milk and stinky nappies (for the time being anyway!). Enter Marc, Dan and Lyndsay.
The Crow received his ‘calling’ in 2004 when he relocated to the Midlands and formed ‘Vertigo’. Playing at fill-in gigs for ‘The Little Big Band’ Crow became acquainted with The Mighty Al Sanchez and Richie Rivett.
During his stint with ‘Vertigo’ Crow met QB Slim and was roped in to be part of the Maverick jam band, where he can still be found on alternate Wednesday’s.
Crow and QB have been firm friends since then, sharing the same quirky sense of humour and taste in music (and beer).
Crow has never lost touch with his roots. He still has a silver plectrum welded to his right hand and holds his Les Paul like a goddess, his love affair with his prized possession lasting longer than his marriage! He still has feathers where his body hair is supposed to grow and, yes, he’s still ‘The Crow’.
